10 Houses Burnt In Benue, 5 Killed
Some unidentified armed men yesterday killed five persons and burnt 10 houses in Tor Donga town of Katsina-ala local government area of Benue State.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the attack which occurred between 8 and 9 am was caused by a clash between some political thugs who were fighting for superiority in the area. Tor Donga is located on Katsina-Ala-Takum express way.

It was also gathered that a notorious political thug identified as Agwaza popularly called “Ghana had”, two weeks ago, allegedly attacked and killed some Fulani herdsmen in another part of the town. The action infuriated Ghana’s rival who it was gathered connived with the Fulani herdsmen to mount reprisal on Ghana’s family.

They invaded Ghana’s abode where they learnt that he had fled and was taking refuge along with his gang in an unidentified house in another part of the area. However, the vigilante group in the area quickly rose to avert the situation.

Upon discovering the quick intervention of the vigilante group, Ghana’s gang proceeded and killed the head of the vigilante along with his second in command. The people of Tor Donga became angry and in retaliation, attacked the elder brother of Ghana who is the principal of DOY secondary school Harga, burnt down his house and cars.

Police public relations officer (PPRO) DSP Daniel Ezeala confirmed that five dead bodies were recovered in the attack and 10 houses burnt.

The PPRO said no arrest was made so far and added that investigation into the crises was ongoing.
