Truck Runs Into School, Kills 4 Pupils A Volvo truck on Tuesday evening ran into an Islamic school killing four pupils. The school is located at Gidan Audu Mallam, Bakin Kasuwa in Suleja town of Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident occurred when the truck breaking system failed and it veered into the Islamic school where the pupils were already gathered to start the usual evening recitation of Quran’s.

It was learnt that the accident also left eight other pupils of the Islamic school in critical condition at Suleja General Hospital and one other pupil based on the enormity of the injury  was referred to the National Hospital at Abuja.

It was gathered that because of the situation and the incessant accidents caused by the truck drivers in the area some irate youths wanted to take the law into their hands but the security agents were able to restore order.

It was learnt that immediately the accident occurred and the youths were about to take the law into their hands, the driver of the truck fled the scene of the accident before the officials of Suleja Local Government and the road safety corps officials arrived.

The Vice Chairman of Suleja Local Government Area, Hon Salisu Abdullahi who immediately led government officials to the scene of the accident called for calm and mobilised health workers to give  medical attention to the injured while those who lost their lives were buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

When contacted the Commander of the Suleja Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission(FRSC) was said to be in a meeting but a senior officer of the command confirmed that those injured were receiving treatment at a hospital.
