We Are Not Involved In Borno Killings – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Borno State has said it is not involved in the killing of innocent persons in the state.

The party said its members, just like members of the All Nigerian Peoples Party, had been killed by gunmen in the state.

The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Baba Basharu, stated this when he visited the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja on Wednesday.

He listed  12 members of the party alleged to have been killed in the state.

It will be recalled that the state Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Mr. Inuwa Bwala, said recently that the crisis in the state was politically motivated.

He said only members of the ANPP were being killed by suspected members of Boko Haram.

Bwala also berated the refusal of President Goodluck Jonathan to visit the state, despite the killings.

But Basharu said, “It is insulting to the relatives of those killed in this mayhem to state that no single PDP member was killed.

“We are not behind the killings. We are for peace and not for violence.”

On the refusal of the President to visit state, Basharu said this could be because of his busy schedule.

He said, “The President didn’t come to Borno State and I think you are forgetting that it is not only in Borno State that something has happened.

“The ANPP is worried that the President has not come. But we are not worry as such. But if the President feels it is important for him to visit Borno, he is welcome. But there has been same crisis in Gombe,  then in Bauchi and Kano.”

“And you know how busy a President can be. His own brother of the same family died yesterday (Tuesday)and he still has to fly out.

“You build this kind of scenario to pull down someone who is trying to build this country.

“His brother died and he has travelled out. Because he didn’t go Maiduguri and so what?

“I don’t believe this is an issue. The preoccupation of Goodluck Jonathan is to administer Nigeria, not to go to Maiduguri, Gombe or Bauchi.

“But if the. President deem it fit to visit Maiduguri, we will be happy for it.”
