Nursing Mother Stabs Hubby Over Infidelity In Ebonyi

It was a sad and tragic end to a turbulent marital relationship after 24-year-old Judith allgedly stabbed her husband Mr.Yaune Okorji, an Assistant Superintendent of Immigration, to death over suspicion of infidelity.

That was exactly what happened last week precisely on November 18, 2012, at their No. 8 Eze Street residence in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The bubbling immigration officer, who is still in his late 20s, hails from Rivers State just as his wife. The couple were said to have been accusing each other of infidelity before now. This had resulted in several quarrels and they had to settle the matter twice at the Ebonyi State Immigration office of the husband.

One version of the report had it that after a quarrel with his wife on the fateful night, Late Yaune went outside to relax on a mat, when the angry wife attacked him without warning, stabbing him with the man’s dagger. One of the stabs under his armpit pierced through his heart. He was rushed to Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA, Ebonyi State, but he was reported to have given up the ghost before arriving at  the hospital.

Another version had it that the husband came back from work that day and his wife was nowhere to be found, while the children were abandoned.

“He decided to go in search of her but could not find her. On getting to the house at about 12 am, he then saw the wife at home and they started quarreling and disturbing the entire neignbourhood. All of a sudden, the woman went into the room and brought out a dagger and stabbed her husband on the chest,” an eye witness who pleaded anonymity recounted.

But neighbours described their marital relationship as that of cat and dog, characterized by frequent quarrelling and fighting. Although the marriage produced two children, with the last child just five months old, she was however said to have had a child before her marriage to the late husband.

The Ebonyi State police command has arrested and charged the woman to court, according to the state police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, Mr. Sylvester Igbo who confirmed the incident.
