Juanita During Goes Home Tomorrow
Miss Juanita During, who died in Burkina Faso on August 17, 2012, at the age of 41, will be buried in Lagos tomorrow.
Until her death, Juanita was the Nigerian Head of Policy, Advocacy and Partnership at the African Centre for Water and Sanitation (CREPA) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
According to the burial rites announced by the family, a Christian wake for the deceased will be held today at 5, Magbon Close, off Macpherson, off Queens Drive, Lagos, between 5:30pm and 9pm.
The funeral service will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Methodist Church, Tinubu, Lagos, while the interment will follow immediately at Ikoyi Cemetery, Lagos.
The late Juanita was head of governance at WaterAid in Nigeria before she was posted to CREPA Ouagadougou. Before then, she was at UNICEF for seven years.
She joined WaterAid in 2008, serving on the Nigerian government’s high level inter-ministerial committee on MDGs.
The WaterAid was responsible for leading and co-ordinating the preparation of Nigeria’s 2010 report for the UN MDG Summit, as well as producing the DFID-supported flagship Five Year Countdown Strategy to accelerate Nigeria’s progress towards the 2015 goals.
Before WaterAid, Juanita previously spent seven years with UNICEF in Nigeria. She also worked with Afri-projects Consortium between 1995 and 1999. Afri-projects was the programme manager of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF). She is survived by two brothers and two sisters.
