70-Year-Old Woman, Killed In Omuo Ekiti For Alleged Witchcraft; Family Rejects Autopsy Reports

Kinsmen of the 70-year-old woman, Madam Rebecca  Adewumi allegedly killed in Omuo Ekiti recently for alleged witchcraft , yesterday rejected the result of the autopsy conducted on the deceased by pathologists at Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, which made nonsense of the claim that the woman was tortured to death.

The family also raised the alarm over threats by a group of youths(Imekula) in the Community to banish them from the town, over claim that some of their members  had been arrested by the Police due to the complaints lodged by the family  that they masterminded the killing.

A member of the family, Mr Gabriel Omokanju , who disclosed this to newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday maintained that the claim that the foot ulcer nursed by the woman for almost 20 years was responsible for her death was a calculated attempt to change the face of the case.

Alleging that the result was a sham, they claimed that the medical experts did not perform any critical examination on the deceased, but only observed  her skin and found that there was no laceration on the deceased’s body to confirm that she was tortured to death.

Though, the result of the postmortem has not been made public, but the family had gotten hints  of the result, having been present when the test was conducted.

“On the autopsy, we are not satisfied with the outcome. It was manipulated. They said there was no laceration on her skin  to confirm that she was tortured to death. They also claimed that there was no mutilation on her fingers as we had earlier alleged.
