Original Stereoman Ekwe denied killing his ex-wife - LIFE &BEAT

Sunday Osakuni, aka Original Stereoman Ekwe, has denied involvement in the murder of the mother of his only surviving child.

In an interview with LIFE &BEAT on Tuesday, the singer, whose maiden hit song, E dey Pain Me, shook the music scene a few years ago, said he was invited by some policemen in mufti to identify the body of a dead young woman during the last Easter.

“Unfortunately, it turned out that the dead woman was the mother of my child. That was how my ordeal started. I was locked up at the Force CID Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for the interrogation that lasted a week and a few days. I told the police officers all they wanted to know,” he said.

Osakuni said he had no hand in the death of his ex lover, Rekia Idris, while declining further comments on the matter.

He said, “Her death can only fetch me pain because she was taking care of the only child she had for me. Actually, I had two daughters from her, but the first child died three days after she was born.

“Soon, it will be one year and seven months Rekia and I parted ways. I didn’t even have her phone number nor that of her sisters again. That tells you that I lost communication with her and members of her family.

“I didn’t kill her. I don’t even have the heart to wish her dead. I can’t even play the role of a mother to my daughter. That’s why I let her stay with my daughter. Her sudden death is not comforting for me or my daughter. I pray God to grant her eternal rest and to expose her killer(s).”
