‘I wont do weel in a soft porn movie’ - Ebube Nwagbo

Talented Nollywood actress Ebube Nwagbo has had her fingers burnt trusting people easily. Now, she lives her life without trying to please everyone.
The screen goddess who captivated movie lovers with her acting prowess is also holding fashion buffs spell bound with her brain child, Posh Hair.
In a recent chat with Daily Sun, Ebube revealed that she won't do well in a soft porn movie even though she is a professional. She also spoke on the pains of being a celebrity. Excerpts:
 This lady reeks of sexiness

How has the year been to you?
It's been very good and encouraging. I thank God for the gift of life. Once there is life, there is hope.

What lessons have you leant as an actress?
I have learnt that no matter what you do, you can't please everybody. You just have to live your life and do what makes you happy, don't try to please everybody but yourself. You have to learn to be you because that is what stands you out from every other person.

Do you still act or you now focus on business alone?
I still act. Acting is my first love. The reason why I no longer feature regularly in movies is because I do other things now aside acting which are all time- consuming. Besides, I won't act forever, so I need to have something to fall back on in future. I had to expand my ideas and me as a brand. That's what showbiz is all about, selling yourself as a brand. One has to grow from one stage to another.

Is it that you no longer get offers from producers or you turn down roles?
I still get offers from producers but it just has to be a good script not just any script. I have been in this business since 2004, so I won't just act now because I want to be on TV, it has to be something good so that I don't mess up the hardwork put in over the years. This is because nothing lasts for ever, people will always remember a bad job over the good one.

What was it like being one of the sought after actresses?
It was very nice to know that people out there appreciate what you do and you put a smile on their faces through your God given talent. But it wasnt easy, I thank God for his mercies.

If you would change anything about yourself what would that be?
I would love to change my ability to trust people easily.

What has trusting people easily cost you as a person?
It has cost me a lot and paid off sometimes too. But I can't change who I am. Life is all about learning from experiences.

What do you have to say about influx of new talents in Nollywood?
It is not a new thing, it's the way it ought to be. Something has to pave way for the other. Nollywood is big enough for everybody. It's all about being yourself and standing out in your own way.

What will you say about the lack of professionalism of some of these new crop of actors and actresses?
It's really sad because this is not how it all started, but it still lies in our hands to make the industry a better place. The truth is that professionals still do their jobs well, this is just a phase, it will pass soon.

What did you enjoy most about being an actress?
I like the fact that I am a role model to many people out there. I am happy I can touch people's lives by the roles I play. I enjoy the fact that I have a talent given to me by God which I actually share with the world through interpreting roles.

What pains have you suffered as a popular actress?
Your life is not a private thing anymore, it's always under public scrutiny and judgement. People tend to believe whatever they read or hear about you. Although it's painful, that's the price for fame.

Is it true that you tampered with the colour your skin?
If tampering means taking care of your skin and looking good, then so be it. I take extremely care of myself to the extent that people always ask me the secret to my beautiful skin. All I know is that I take care of my skin, I don't know about tampering with the colour of my skin.

What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty is a reflection of your innerself, it's not just about your looks. For me, beauty is a total package because the beauty of a person starts from within.

What strikes you first about a woman's dressing?
How neat and well put together she is. No matter what a woman wears, if she doesn't look composed, it puts me off.

What do you have to say about soft porn movies in Nollywood?
Life is all about choices, if you can and want to do it, it's your life. As an artiste, some roles might require you going to the extreme to interprete it well. That is if you are willing to live with your decision and not feel guilty afterwards.

Can you act in a soft porn movie?
No I can't because I won't even do it well, so there is no point.
