Yeka Onka, Guitarman, others rock One Mic

Winner of the first edition of Nigerian Idol, Yeka Onka and alternative artiste, GT The Guitarman are two of the headlining acts at this month’s live music and comedy show, One Mic. It is the first edition of the once-in-two-months show in 2012. And the organisers, M.et.al and s.h.a.r.e, have assembled an impressive line up of emerging artistes including Hakym The Dream, Aramide, Shaydee and Femi Adeyinka.

Holding this Sunday at the Brown’s Café, GRA, Lagos, rappers, Kel and KB of the defunct Trybesmen fame return to compeering duties. A statement from the organisers adds, “These six acts are a good blend of up and coming and established hip hop, soul, R n B and pop and one more thing they have in common- they are great performers! Val’s Day may be over but love is always in the air and so we are celebrating love, life and good music at the first One Mic for the year.”

One Mic provides a platform for emerging and established acts to express and expose themselves to live music performances, and to also connect fans with new music, as well as old favourites. Emphasis is on live music as all artistes perform with the One Mic band, a collection of seasoned instrumentalists. Artistes like Shank, Pope, Nikki Laoye, Praiz, Skales, Threadstone, Black Magic, Rayce and many more have featured on the show.
