Pastor forgot N8 million in the car & a member returned it...
The Church of Christ Disciples at Awka in Anambra State is to honour a social crusader and philanthropist, Mazi Omeife I. Omeife, for returning N8 million belonging to one of the senior pastors of the church, Mr. Kelvin Ezennaya Chuks, who forgot the money in Omeife’s car.
The incident occurred after Mazi Omeife picked Pastor Chuks at Oji in Enugu State on his way back to Awka.
It was gathered that after dropping the pastor, Omeife headed home and as he parked and about to shut his car, he surprisingly saw the money wrapped in a paper bag and decided to trace the pastor to return the lost money.
A letter addressed to Mazi Omeife, conveying approval of the church to honour him, was signed by
Elder J.J. Okafor, Evangelism Secretary. The church described him as an honest and transparent individual, whose character and behaviour are worthy of emulation.
“The congregation is very happy that not all Nigerians are corrupt and slaves to money. Your attitude impressed most of us that we lack words to express our happiness and appreciation over this monumental behaviour of your character, worthy of emulation by all and sundry”, the letter.
When contacted, Mazi Omeife said he felt humbled by the appreciation of the church through an award, saying God works in a mysterious and miraculous way. “In the first place, when I saw the pastor in full clergy’s attire, I had the urge to give him a ride and when I saw the money later, my concern was where and how to meet him to hand over the lost money to him; I thank God that I saw him and gave back the money to him”, he said.
