2Face, D’banj, Fally Ipupa get BET nomination
The first and only time the Koko master D’Banj appeared as guest on black America’s cable newt work Black Entertainment Tv, he expressed the desire to win at the annual BET organised awards.
And as if the god of music listened to the interview, D’Banj alongside his African brothers, 2Face and Fally Ipupa the sweet voice Congolese have been listed as nominees at this year’s edition of the BET Awards.
Perhaps his dream will come true on Sunday, June 26 when the red carpet rolls out.
In the list announced by the organisers Rapper Kanye West and R&B pop star Chris Brown are nominated four times, the highest nods this year. They are closely followed by B.O.B and Willow Smith with three and Rihanna, Drake and Lil’ Wayne.
D’Banj and superstar singer 2face Idibia were nominated the ‘Best International Act category and will be slugging it out Congolese singer Fally Ipupa, South African rap duo Teargas, D-Black from Ghana and the legendary singer Angelique Kidjo.
The show will take place on Sunday, June 26, 2011 and will be hosted by American actor and comedian Kevin Hart.
Nigeria’s M.I and P Square were the first Nigerian acts to be included in the nominations list. They were nominated last.
