Abuja: 3 Died In Road Crash As Gunmen Raid Kano School
Despite a ban on heavy duty vehicle within the Federal Capital Territory between 4pm and 10pm, no fewer than three people were confirmed dead in a road crash along Nyanya-Maraba road, Abuja, involving a tipper and 16 vehicles.

The accident, which occurred yesterday by 3.45 pm, according to eyewitnesses, caused the usual evening traffic jam to completely come to a halt.

Eyewitness account informed Vanguard that the accident occurred when a tipper trailer, carrying sand, rammed into several vehicles, apparently due to break failure.

The driver of the tipper, reportedly lost control of the steering, veered off the road, taking 16 vehicles with it. Three died instantly.

Meanwhile, suspected Islamist gunmen on motorbikes stormed a primary school, yesterday, and opened fire on teachers, wounding four of them, police said.

The attackers made teachers at Dan Maliki Primary School lie on the ground before shots rang out, a witness said. No one claimed responsibility for the assault.

The gunmen hit the head teacher and three other teachers, leaving them severely wounded, said police spokesman Magaji Musa Majiya.

Boko Haram was the main suspect, he added. None of the pupils were harmed.
