Plateau Speaker Escaped Assassination, 9 Injured
Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker,Hon John Clark Dabwan, yesterday evening, cheated death by the whiskers when some unknown gun men attacked an evening  church crusade at Christian Rural Urban Development Association (CRUDAN) in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

LEADERSHIP investigation revealed that about nine others sustained gun shots wounds as a result of the attack which took the area by surprise and were now receiving treatment at the Plateau Specialist Hospital.

An Eyewitness who did not want his name in print told LEADERSHIP that the gunmen entered into the centre, wielding their dangerous weapons demanding the whereabouts of the Speaker.

Besides, it was alleged that Dabwan drove into the premises and shortly, the attackers came demanding for his head and shot into the crowd of worshipers injuring them in the process.

It was not known if the attackers were armed robbers as was being claimed by government officials or they were kidnappers.

Another eyewitness who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that “we noticed that all was not well when we spotted the men who demanded ‘where is the speaker’ in a loud tone.

He added that “Some of us were not aware that the speaker was there and I think he sensed trouble so he drove out quickly before anyone could identify him” he narrated

It took the timely arrival of members of the Special Task Force to scare the attackers away.
