FG Splashes N4bn On First Lady’s Building
In what federal lawmakers described as “scandalous”, the federal government is to splash N4 billion on the construction of Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Janathan’s pet project, African First Ladies Peace Mission Building.

Also, N7.5 billion has been earmarked for the construction of two city gates in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The construction costs were contained in the N253, 199,752,409 billion 2013 FCT Statutory Appropriation Bill presented to the Senate, yesterday.

FCT’s 2013 budget proposal has N48,034,818,410 voted for personnel costs; N49,504,534,358 for overhead costs and the balance of N155,660, 399,641 is for capital projects for the service of the FCT commencing from January 1 and ending on December 31, 2013.

Vice President, Namadi Sambo’s Guest House in Asokoro, Abuja will be renovated with a total sum of N150 million it was also disclosed.

N5 billion is to be spent to rehabilitate prostitutes and destitutes in the country’s capital city.

The Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) has earmarked N5.7 billion for procurement of equipment and other essentials, out of which N2.9 billion is for sweeping and sanitation in the city.

In lead debates, Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma- Egba who presented the 2013 FCT Statutory Appropriation Bill said another N7.5 billion will be spent in 2013 by the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC).
