It Is A Lie, Aviation Ministry Never Sponsored Senators’ Overseas Trip – Abaribe

The Senate yesterday raised the alarm about falsehood being peddled to the fact that the Aviation Ministry sponsored senators to an overseas trip.

A statement in Abuja by its spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, refuted the story, describing it as a lie and one that only exist in the imagination of its authors.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Senate is on vacation and, as a result, most of them are currently on lesser hajj (umrah). Some are presently meeting their constituents while some others may have gone with their families on vacation. So, it is a blatant lie and a sinister fabrication to say that Aviation Ministry is taking the senators on an overseas trip”, he said.

Abaribe further described the rumour as ‘not only denigrating, but a wicked resort to blackmail’.

“The story is not true. It is false but only aimed to draw the senators out and lower them in the estimation of the public where they are enjoying unprecedented respect and acclaim. Senators are currently on holidays with their families and are not (according to the report) going to any sponsored trips by Aviation Ministry. The report, we make bold to say, was willfully concocted as part of the grand design to weaken the institution to achieve a sinister motive.”

The Senate, he said, therefore, cautioned the authors of the falsehood to desist from peddling such unsubstantiated reports as such could cause harm to the nation’s democracy.
