Police In Jigawa Kill 2 Robbery Suspects, Recover 44 Cows


Two suspected armed robbers were shot death while five others fled after a gun battle with policemen at Muazu quarters of Hadejia Local Government Area of the state.

The Police commissioner, Mr Theophilus Kayode disclosed this while briefing newsmen after the operation.

He said that at about 11:30pm, a gang of hoodlums armed with guns, bows and arrows attacked Muazu quarters and start shooting sporadically. But as soon as the incident started, one Good Samaritan from the area alerted the police patrol team who responded to the distress call.

According to him, after an exchange of fire between police and the bandits two of the suspected armed robbers were gunned down while the others took to their heels.

He added that some of the items recover from the suspects included, one locally made pistol, bows and arrows, charms and two knives.

In related development, the commissioner said that his men attached to Birniwa Local Government Division, had arrested two thieves and recovered over 44 cows suspected to be stolen from Fambeguwa Local Government Kaduna state.

He stated that a member of the public informed the police  about one  trailer with registration number SK 683 KMC  suspected to be loading stolen cows at Kumsa village of the area.

“When policemen arrived at the scene, they succeeded in arresting two suspects while others ran away: those arrested include Rabiu Hashimu and Alhaji Muhammad Usman suspected to be a potential buyer of the stolen cows.

“During the interrogation the suspects confessed that, the cows were stolen from Fambeguwa Local Government of Kaduna state, the police now are on the trail of the remaining suspects.”
