Stop issuing new number plates - Senate | We‘ll continue to issue new number plates until - FRSC

ABUJA—Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Thursday, insisted that it would continue to issue the new number plates and driver’s licence to the motoring public despite the Senate’s resolution stopping it from doing so.

Corps Marshall and Chief Executive of FRSC, Mr. Osita Chidoka, he revealed this to journalists in Abuja while answering questions on the inclusion of road safety education in school curriculum and approval of the standards for school buses in basic and senior secondary schools.

In reaction to the reports that the Senate had stopped the agency from issuing the new number plates, Chidoka said: “We have not been officially communicated on the issue. “Once that is done, the Federal Executive Council, FEC, will respond to it appropriately.”

It would be recalled that the Senate, at its Wednesday plenary session, adopted a motion asking the FRSC to stop issuing the new number plates and driver’s licen-ce to the motoring public.

The order was upon the adoption of a motion on new number plates and driver’s licence sponsored by Senator Dahiru Kuta and 19 others in which they condemned the process.
