Timaya buys Bentley, plans collaboration with Rick Ross

Nigerian music star, and car freak, Timaya, has added a 2009 Bentley Continental GT Coupe to his fleet. The dreadlocked singer drives a Range Rover and Escalade Truck in Lagos while his home in Port Harcourt, Rivers State boasts a 2010 Camry and another Range Rover. E-Punch findings reveal that Timaya’s new car, which comes in silver chrome, has a navigation system, Bluetooth, Sirius satellite radio, multi-zone climate control, heated memory power seats, premium grade leather and genuine wood trim which are used throughout the interior. The four-seat coupe, an all-wheel drive, also has a rear reversing camera among other top-notch conveniences. He was said to have spent a whopping $205, 000 (about N31m) to acquire his fantasy.

Timaya’s manager, Prince Nnamdi Oluzor, tells E-Punch that it had always been Timaya’s dream to buy a Bentley. “So, when the opportunity to buy the car came, he jumped at it. In fact, he paid for the car before leaving Nigeria last Friday. He is so happy at the moment that his hard work is paying off and he is reaping the fruits of his labour,” he says.

Another reason he decided to buy the car, it was gathered, is to separate himself from other Range Rover-cruising Nigerian artistes like D’Prince, Ice Prince, M.I and Timi Dakolo among others.

Still euphoric and pleased with the acceptance of his collaborative album with his Dem Mama Soldiers, Long Life and Prosperity, Timaya departed Nigeria last Friday for a month-long tour of the United States during which he is expected to perform in different American cities including Washingon DC, Dallas, New York, Houston and Miami. During the trip, E-Punch learns that the Bayelsa State native would team up with Maybach Music Group boss and rapper, Rick Ross, for collaboration.

A source close to Dem Mama Records founded by Timaya says, “Timaya has sent the song he wants Rick Ross to feature in to him and all the details of the deal have been firmed up; it only remains for them to enter the studio together and complete work on the song.” Rick Ross is not entirely new to Nigerian acts; one of his artistes, Wale Folarin, is a London-raised Nigerian. The song is expected to hit the airwaves when Timaya returns in March.
