Xcape’s record signing deal fails!

By Charles Mgbolu
Talks of a mega record label deal which had began late last year to sign upcoming Yoruba rap artiste Xcape whom many foresee will ignite the almost extinguished fire left behind by the late Dagrin has failed.

Aire entertainment; an indigenous record label company that had been in deep negotiations to sign the young star had suddenly pulled out of the deal at the last minute.

Sources close to Xcape say the entire scenario has left the young rap artist speechless as he is yet to ascertain where the problem came from.

Xcape has been blowing hot since he officially stormed the scene early last year with that rare and uncanny ability to twist Yoruba words into a hard core rap; the very same gift that blew Dagrin into limelight and also kept him alive even in death.

Aire entertainment had been scouting the nation for multi-talented young artistes. In June last year, their search light had rested on the young star. They are presently not making any comments on the failed deal.

In an interview Xcape granted this reporter last year, he had said “we are still in deliberations and I’m hoping the deal gets better for me but for now, everything is fine.” There had been no inkling of trouble then.

Sources however say that the young star has refused to be discouraged by this as he’s forged ahead in his hunt to get himself a label.

The specifics of this record deal with Aire was not made known but above other incentives, Xcape was to have his compilation of singles fully packaged into an album followed by an intensive promotional tour that should put him strong in the market. He had been hopeful that negotiation will be finalised sooner than later.

It will no longer be so. At least for now.
