We must continue to demand our right – Asa

Asa might not have been in the country to join the demonstration but her resentment towards the sudden removal of fuel subsidy is well documented. In a series of tweets monitored over the past few days, Asa posits, “We can turn the economy around if we fight corruption. We should be telling a different story today. We have great minds frustrated by bad leadership. The right step is ending corruption and cutting unnecessary government spending. Subsidy or no subsidy, we have suffered enough. It’s time to listen to the people. They are talking now, you leaders, listen.”

Asa who promises to keep talking and singing about the problems bedevilling her country, states further, “I charge every Nigerian. Wherever you are on earth, come out, demand your right. We are all in this together. Our brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers are suffering. It’s time for change in Nigeria.”

Back home, many female celebrities thronged the different rally grounds but they were more visible in Ojota where each of them was given an opportunity to speak with the people. From Kefee, Omawumi, Ronke Oshodi -Oke to Toyin Aimakhu, Waje and Bimbo Akintola, they were all there in their capacities as angry Nigerians.
