Many had expected it to happen, after all it was Africa’s answer to its European edition. But alas, it never happened. And it left a shocking gap in the entertainment calendar ending the year 2011.
This is authoritative, the 2011 edition of the MTV Africa awards could not hold in South-Africa because the major sponsor, GLO pulled out of the deal at the last minute.
The pull out according to sources, broke the heart of the organisers because they had turned down the offer of a South- African based company after the mouth watering offer made by the Nigerian based telecoms giant.
Right now, the organiser according to our source are desperately shopping for another sponsor. ”They want to host the awards in the first quota of this year” our source hinted.
