Adefarasin canvasses Christian-Islam unity

Convener of Nigeria’s biggest gospel concert, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has urged Christians and Muslims to come together to tackle the menace created by the Boko Haram sect.

The Senior Pastor of House on The Rock Church, in a statement, condemned the incessant bombings by the Boko Haram and said there was a need to improve on the security of lives and properties by the government to curb the menace of the sect.

At the Experience concert that featured top gospel acts from various parts of the world, he stressed that Muslims were not the enemies of Christians and they must not be seen as such.

Adefarasin said, “Moderate Islam and Christianity should dialogue and form an alliance. That will put an end to the menace of Boko Haram in our land. I will implore all Muslims and Christians to live together in peace, love and unity because we are a nation ordained by God. We are collaborators for our equal progress. We don’t need to fight each other but we should collaborate with each other for the development of our great nation.

“We are brothers in the Nigerian context and there is a need to form a partnership for a common relationship. If we can do this, Boko Haram will be a thing of the past in Nigeria. We must love Nigeria into submission to God because love will always win.”

He adds that the heightened threat of religious terrorism and the new wave of suicide bombing with the attendant religious strife were worrisome.

“If something is not done fast, it portends the real imminence of a civil war but God forbid. The failure of successive insipid leadership to industralise our nation leaves us in a precarious state of consumerism while we are fast running out of money as a nation.

“Our leadership at many levels continues to fail to provide a meaningful roadmap for our development or for any lasting solution to our legion of national problems.
